Extreme Weather Alert is in effect for November 16, 17 and 18, 2021

The Burnaby Extreme Weather Plan provides for sheltering spaces to be made available when weather is severe enough to pose a higher health risk to homeless people.

The purpose of this notice is to inform that an Extreme Weather Alert has been called for November 16 to 18, 2021.  Shelter spaces are being provided at Westminster Bible Chapel.

We ask all recipients of this Alert to:

1. Print the attached poster on bright yellow paper and post it in areas which homeless individuals may see it

2. Notify all your staff that the Alert has been called and ask them to spread the news to the homeless they come into contact with; and to refer people to the:

Burnaby Extreme Weather Response

Lookout Housing and Health Society operates the Burnaby Extreme Weather Response as part of Burnaby’s community response to homelessness.

The Extreme Weather Response shelters are open whenever the temperature drops below 0 degrees (or feels like 0 degrees) during the night. (see bottom of page for detailed definitions)

The location of the Burnaby Extreme Weather Response alternates between churches based primarily on availability:

(Between 1st and 15th of the month)
Southside Community Church

(Between 16th and end of the month)

 â€“ 7540 6th Street, Burnaby
