We had a successful AGM on Thursday, September 19, 2019, hosted by Burnaby Community Services at Rosser Ave, Burnaby.
Thank you to our speaker, Mayor Mike Hurley, who talked about the planned direction of the City in regards to housing and homelessness. Thank you for a great presentation!
Last year was eventful and exciting for the Society/Taskforce To End Homelessness:
– the very first time in Burnaby’s history four new minimal barrier warming centres were opened
– Progressive Housing Society opened a 40-bed, temporary 24/7 shelter in August 2019 at 2294 Douglas and
– a 52 unit modular housing development on Norland Ave is soon to be opened
– the Society together with Fraser Health and a diverse table of services hosted six Community Dialogues to increase public understanding around addictions and reduce stigma.
We particularly thank our volunteers who are the backbone of the Society, the Taskforce and our weekly Outreach Resource Centre as well as all our monetary and in-kind supporters.
