In anticipation of the September 20th, 2021, Federal Election, The Society to End Homelessness in Burnaby and Southside Community Church, along with a growing list of other supporting organizations, will be hosting a Town Hall Meeting in Burnaby to discuss important issues around being a good neighbour and creating flourishing neighbourhoods. Specific topics to be discussed are issues of homelessness, affordable housing and food security. We believe that these and similar issues are crucial to the future of our neighbourhoods in Burnaby.
A member of each political party in Burnaby is participating in a panel of Federal Candidates to speak on these issues. The Town Hall Meeting will be on Tuesday, September 7th, at Southside Community Church, 7135 Walker Avenue, from 7:00 – 8:30 pm. This Town Hall meeting will be both in person, with a limited live audience in accordance to the provincial health guidelines, and via Zoom. It will be a time for candidates to give short responses to a set of questions, followed by a moderated Q-and-A period, for both an in-person and online audience.
The candidate representatives are:
- Conservative Party of Canada – Likky Lavji
- Green Party of Canada – Maureen Curran
- Liberal Party of Canada – Terry Beech
- New Democratic Party of Canada – Peter Julian
- People’s Party of Canada – Marcella Williams
We hope that this opportunity will give the candidates the opportunity to express their position on such important issues, and give the voters/citizens the opportunity to hear where each person/party stands.
