We Need Neighbours Like You!

The Society to Homelessness in Burnaby is initiated, operated, and maintained by collaborative efforts across the Burnaby community by caring and compassionate community members like you! We are always looking for new members to bring fresh perspectives to the needs of our neighbourhood. Becoming a member of the Society to End Homelessness in Burnaby means you get a say on how to improve the quality of life for our most vulnerable neighbours in Burnaby.
Here’s what our Board Member Karen O’Shannacery has to say about being a member of the Society:
“As someone who sees and cares about the significant health and other disparities that exist for people who are homeless in Burnaby, serving on the Board gives opportunity to guide and support the Society’s mission to improve the well-being of persons experiencing homelessness and to work towards preventing people from becoming homeless.

What sets this Society apart is its unique collaborative approach with all key stakeholders working together towards making any homeless experience brief and one time only, with the goal of ending homelessness in Burnaby. Everyone involved in the Society – staff, volunteers and board members - is passionate and truly cares about the people served. Board members believe that housing and access to essential services are basic rights that are key to solving homelessness – without stable housing a person cannot meet basic hygiene needs, access health treatments effectively, address mental health or substance use, access training or education or keep a job.“
