If I Had A Key

BURNABY- Asking Burnaby’s homeless citizens to convey what a key represents for them opened some unexpected possibilities.

“Homeless citizens in Burnaby chose the image of a key as the logo for The Society To End Homelessness In Burnaby. A keys opens the door of possibilities. The houses and people in the design symbolize the compassion and partnerships needed to find a made-for-Burnaby solution to housing,” said Wanda Mulholland, Society Coordinator.

Burnaby Homeless Connect is a free, one-day event hosted annually in October by the Burnaby Task Force On Homelessness. It connects people who are living in extreme poverty and homelessness with essential goods and services.

At this year’s Burnaby Homeless Connect, people in attendance were asked what it meant to them to have a key in their lives. Their responses became an integral part of the If I Had A Key project.

If I Had a Key is currently on display at the Tommy Douglas Library at 7311 Kingsway during regular hours:

Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 9:00 pm

Saturdays 9:00 am to 6:00 pm

Sundays 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
