This special event was hosted by The Society To End Homelessness In Burnaby and held at the Royal Oak Ministry Centre on Thursday Dec 8th, 2016.
Outreach Christmas provided a fun filled and festive celebration for many people who deal with homelessness and extreme poverty and may not normally celebrate the Holiday Season.
Approximately 235 people were in attendance at Outreach Christmas 2016. Over 152 people were assisted by the 19 volunteers who set up for the event, 39 volunteers who provided/compiled Christmas presents, 3 volunteers who compiled prizes for the event, 7 staff of Progressive Housing Society, 6 service providers, 63 volunteers from Vancity, Royal Oak Ministry Centre, Charlford House, the community, 7 dignitaries and RCMP officers.
Outreach Christmas provided: a pancake breakfast, door prizes, rousing hockey shoot out tournament, showers, learning table, scrapbooking, card mailing, clothing distribution, guessing game, Santa arrived with presents for all and photo opportunities, Christmas musical entertainment, turkey lunch, Bingo, Searching for Treasure and Jingle Bell Toss games in the afternoon. There were smiles, laughter, tears, hugs, enthusiasm, lots of festive holiday fun, music, dancing, presents, card giving, giveaways and an abundance of caring and gratitude.
Thank you for making Outreach Christmas a memorable and welcoming celebration of a caring community in Burnaby.
